Greene County district court, week ending Sept. 24

In Greene County district court Jonah Van Khua Lian, 31, of Clive was granted a deferred judgment Sept. 24 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. He was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He must pay a $1,250 civil penalty and $305 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Maddison Jolynn Battani, 19, of Des Moines was sentenced to 14 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of identity theft less than $1,500. She will receive credit for time served. Battani was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. She must pay $716.30 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. A charge of driving while license revoked was dismissed. A charge against Battani in magistrate court of interference with official acts was also dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Jesse Whatley, 27, of Brazoria, TX, OWI- third offense; and Vashara Tametria Gwendo Green, 23, of West Des Moines, possession of marijuana- second offense.
